Nominate a Youth

Do you know an Indigenous youth who is making a difference?

The SAIYAwards recognize Indigenous youth in Southern Alberta who demonstrates a strong desire and commitment to achieve their goals. These awards are to encourage confidence and help create Indigenous youth ambassadors for the future.

SAIYA 2017 includes a raise in the age limit to include youth 13 – 25 years who are contributing to a solution.

$1000.00 awarded to winner of each category.

Eligibility requirements (NOMINATION PERIOD CLOSES OCTOBER 5, 2017)

  • First Nation, Métis or Inuit heritage  
  • Between 13 – 25 years of age
  • Live within Southern Alberta which includes Calgary to the US Border

The nominations of deceased persons will not be accepted.

    • Recipients will be given an award as well as $1,000 towards future goals
    • Gain public speaking and media training skills in workshops put on by the community.
    • Represent themselves as the SAIYAwards ambassadors for the year as a strong youth voice at community events
    • Contribute to the SAIYAwards 2018 awards planning committee and shaping the process on how to encourage other youth 


Selection Process

A committee of Elders will review the nominations and choose a winner in each category. The winners will be contacted by October 11th, 2017.
